Schlock Mercenary: By Howard Taylor. The adventures of Sergeant Schlock and the crack mercenary company Tagon's toughs, although nobody's yet figured out if 'crack' means 'really really good' or 'what they've been smoking.' Watch for puns. In Taylor's universe, they're usually loaded with antimatter.

Baen Books: A gem among book companies, Baen's marketing strategy can be summed up in one word: "giveaway." Yep. Jim Baen, also known as The Great Editor, gives away,for free, no strings attached, electronic copies of over fifty of his best selling books. And that's just for starters. Check out their Free Library, and sample some of the best science fiction ever published.
